The Science Doesn’t Lie
There have been numerous studies performed to understand the chemistry and physics behind teeth whitening. Special lights and lasers have shown to provide no measurable whitening benefits while increasing the likelihood of whitening sensitivity. The best scientific research has been based around the chemically-influenced breakdown of hydrogen peroxide to produce more effective whitening results.

An appropriate pH level is needed for ideal chemical breakdown of peroxide gels. Also, true chemical catalysts added at the right time (such as during an in-office whitening treatment) will lead to a more rapid reaction. These methods will lead to better, and more effective, activation than any lights or lasers will.

KöR Whitening Systems
Another key element of the KöR Whitening system is constant refrigeration. Science has also proven that hydrogen peroxide gels will begin to breakdown immediately after manufacture if they are not maintained in a refrigerated state. All KöR Whitening gels are stored, transported and delivered to the dental offices while under constant refrigeration. This leads to maximum potency of the gels. Other manufacturers typically do not use constant refrigeration, opting for chemical stabilizers instead. Unfortunately, the research shows that, though the chemical stabilizers may help minimize degradation of the peroxide to a slight degree, it also hinders the necessary rapid breakdown in the mouth during treatment.
